Music Reviews

#MusicMonday – September 7th, 2020

Back again with a few songs I like.

One of these days, I’m gonna remember the person I got this community blogging hashtag from. I know they were a he, and I believe they only meant for it to be one song each Monday. I just like to stretch the rules a bit.

12-year-old me loved this song because it was angsty, and always playing on the radio. I didn’t have cable when Puddle of Mudd got hot, but I remember “Blurry” and “She Hates Me” got heavy airplay. I only ever saw the video for “She Hates Me” years later, but I think that I could have been a bigger Puddle of Mudd fan if I had seen this video as well.

I want it to be known that I’ve never actually seen Hair the musical in it’s entirety, so I can’t do a proper write up on it. However, I did love the wild, hippy drug trip feel that the few videos I did see gave off.

On my WhatsApp, I continued Music Monday with a few more songs from Hair, but that’s because there’s no official video for the next song.

So, I like Lady Gaga, but I’ll always say that the hype during the second album was the best. The first album hype was to get you interested, but, by the second, Gaga’s place had already been set so she could be a great pop artist without too many gimmicks. Fortunately for me, she wasn’t quite done with the gimmicks, and I was able to get Born This Way for a dollar.

It was definitely a great purchase.

I liked the whole album, but “Hair” was one of my favorites because I’m also one of those girls who like to try different things with my hair and don’t want to be judged about it.

“I just want to be myself, and I want you to love me for who I am”.
